I just hope they took their time and thought out all the angles and potential pitfalls, unlike the AIG fiasco. Second, how many of the homeowners simply cannot afford the home they are in. If are simply delaying the inevitable, are we helping anyone? Maybe they need help finding lower cost housing??

We can probably be certain that there are some potential pitfalls here. I agree it makes no sense in delaying the inevitable. As I read the plan in order to qualify a homeowner must be able to afford their mortage payments after loan modification. If not they are not eligible for this plan.
